There's so much to share about traveling in Malaysia! I spent a lot of time planning attractions before, and after returning from the trip, I've summarized this Malaysian guide to share as much of my experience as possible with everyone.
🌈 Pre-trip Checklist
✅ Valid passport with a remaining validity of ≥6 months without any damage or alterations
✅ MDAC entry card can be filled out as early as 3 days in advance (including the departure day). If you're worried about forgetting, you can use the Chinese version of Huyi Visa at the end of the picture, which can be filled out 30 days in advance! For detailed filling instructions, see the picture.
✅ Supporting materials (electronic version is fine) hotel reservation (if you haven't booked a room, you can fill in the intended address), return ticket itinerary
✨ Malaysia is mainly divided into West Malaysia and East Malaysia. West Malaysia is more focused on culture and history, such as: Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Malacca. East Malaysia has a better natural environment, such as: Semporna, Langkawi.
📜 City characteristics:
🟡 Semporna - A famous holiday resort 🏖 The clear seawater seems like blue glass, and when you go out to sea by boat, it feels as if you are floating on the surface of the sea.
🟢 Langkawi - Verdant virgin tropical rainforests, hundreds of eagles circling and diving in the sky, feeding eagles 🦅 is a niche tourist spot that hasn't been discovered by most people.
🔵 Penang - Also rated as a World Cultural Heritage site, it gathers the mixed architectural styles of Southeast Asia, Europe, and China, with a strong cultural atmosphere.
🟤 Malacca - The oldest city in Malaysia, the Malacca in geography textbooks, where Zheng He stopped five times during his seven voyages to the Western Seas.
🟠 Kuala Lumpur - The shining capital of Malaysia, blending modern and traditional, Eastern and Western cultures in a bustling metropolis 🌆
✈️ The process of filling out the Malaysian MDAC electronic entry card in Chinese intelligent version is as follows:
1️⃣ On Alipay, search for [Huyi Visa], click on [Malaysia] to start filling out
2️⃣ Upload a photo of your passport, and the system will intelligently recognize and fill in the information
3️⃣ Click on [Add Travelers], and it's easy to handle the entry cards for the whole family
4️⃣ Download the PDF version of the entry card in my [Orders]
【Travel Tips】
⚠️ Grab app can be used for both taxi and food delivery, but you need to bind your phone card in advance in your country, otherwise, you won't receive the verification code in Malaysia.
⚠️ For daily payments, Alipay is the best, different Alipay membership levels will have exchange rate preferences, some are even more cost-effective than currency exchange at banks. Many convenience stores, restaurants, and supermarkets in Malaysia can use Alipay for payment.
⚠️ Although the hotel environment there is good, the water quality is really not good, it is recommended to bring a shower filter.
⚠️ Be sure to bring a power bank, unlike in your country, there are shared power banks everywhere in Malaysia, it's very frustrating to go out and have your phone die.
⚠️ For diving, you can buy a waterproof phone case in your country to take with you, it's much cheaper. For snorkeling, bring your own mouthpiece, as the ones there are public and very unhygienic.
⚠️ If you want to experience the water houses in Semporna, be sure to book in advance! Popular resorts like Kapalai should be booked at least a month in advance.
For now, that's all I can think of. Girls 👭, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask me, and I will answer them one by one if I know.
